Love Spells and Rituals
About Love Potions
Since the beginning of time, people have attempted to formulate potions that induce love and stir desire. Some of the best stimulants of this type are naturally occurring foods like oysters, onions, ginseng, and ginger. But if the subtle effect of these substances isn’t enough for you, try one of the following potions.
However, I must warn you: is against the principles of good/ethical/white magic to try to impose your will onto another, even for such a benevolent reason as to induce true love. If you do so, remember the saying:Be careful of what you ask for, you just might get it. The spell in the potion could rebound, you could find yourself falling in love or being attracted to someone completely unsuitable for you, which may even be dangerous.
It may be best to use these potions as an offering to the Gods and Goddesses of love, asking them to send you your heart’s desire, someone who is right for you.
Add to your favorite bottle of cologne or perfume a few drops of musk oil, a pinch of ground coral, cantharides (“spanish fly”), brown sugar, cinnamon, and three rose petals. Shake well and then place the bottle in front of an image of your desired lover, or your chosen deity of love, for five days and nights. To attract a lover, rub some of the perfume on your forehead, breasts, and feet.
Love Potion #1
Fill a small pot with a handful of rosemary leaves, thirteen anise seeds, two cloves, three rose geranium leaves, a tablespoon of honey, and some grapefruit juice. Place the pot over a fire and bring the brew to a boil. Strain the mixture through a sieve. Add some of the liquid to a glass of wine or fruit juice, and then serve it to the man or woman from whom you desire love, or use it as an offering.
Love Potion #2
In a small pot, put one cup of Spring water, 1/4 cup grapefruit juice, 1 teaspoon fennel, 1 teaspoon vervain, 3 pinches of nutmeg. Place the pot on a fire, or on the stove in a stainless steel pot, and bring it to a boil. Sit before the pot with a pink candle, and concentrate on the man or woman from whom you wish love, chanting his or her name out loud for thirteen minutes. Remove the pot from the fire and strain the potion through cheesecloth. Add a bit of honey to sweeten the potion and give it to the one you desire. Be sure to prepare and administer the potion on a Friday night.
If you sneeze on a Thursday, you will kiss a stranger.
If you sneeze on a Saturday, you will see your true love on the following day.
If two lovers sneeze at the same time, it is an omen of good fortune.
Itchy lips are a sign that you will soon be kissed. If the right side of your body itches, it means that your lover is thinking of you. An itchy nose indicates a secret admirer.

Spell to Forget an Old Flame
The old, nostalgic memories of past romances never seem to fade, though we do tend to forget the bad parts. When the influence of an old flame lingers, when the passion of a past and long-gone love refuses to die and keep interfering with the present, it is time to put it to rest. This spell will not eliminate the memories, but it will finally snuff the misplaced embers of a long-gone love.
You will need:
- Nine black beans
- A piece of black paper
At midnight, when the moon is almost black, get the paper and the beans and sit in silence, Fully remembering your old flame. Invoke your past passion, the feelings you still hold on to. Then, take up each bean in turn, say one line of the charm, and put the bean onto the paper. Do this until all nine beans are on the paper. Then fold up the paper.
The following are the nine parts of the charm to say, one for each bean:
- Soul of bliss, perfect kiss, gone…
- Face so fair, gone…
- Beautiful hair, gone…
- Arms so comfortable and strong, gone…
- Legs so long, gone…
- Heart of fire, gone…
- Loins of desire, gone…
- Thoughts so fine, gone…
- Aura divine, gone…
Take the bean-filled paper to a graveyard and bury it at night. Say:
- Our love was true,
But it did not last,
Our love is gone,
It is now past.
Joy and peace to you and I.
The flame is gone And now: good-bye. Lethe, lethe, lethe.
Making Beautiful Music Together
If there is not enough romance in your life, try this little spell to add that special exotic energy to an already okay relationship, or even to help a new one start off on the right foot.
You will need:
- A new music CD or cassette
- Sandalwood incense
- Sandalwood Oil
- Hot pink or magenta paper
Choose a really romantic CD that you know for a fact your SO will like, but choose one he/she doesn’t own. On a Friday night, open the CD, light the incense, put some sandalwood oil on your body, and have as much fun as a person can have alone (use your imagination) while cluthing the CD to your heart, saying:
- Sound of love,
Love of sound,
Bring it through,
Bring it round.
Mark the top of the CD case with a pentagram, using the oil, then pass it through the incense smoke and say:
- Full of lust, love and light,
Music of the heart fly free,
Fill us with joy and might,
As we listen, may it be tonite!
Wrap the CD in the pink paper and give it to your SO. Make sure you listen to it the first time together, and wear a little of the sandalwood oil. Play the CD again…
And make beautiful music together!
Apple Love Spell
You will need:
- One apple
- Twist the stem of an apple. On each rotation call out a letter of the alphabet. Begin with A. The letter you call out as the stem comes off will be the initial of your true love. If you do not trust your luck, you can purposely pull the stem on a particular letter (this is called using your will). Once you have pulled the stem from the apple, hold it between your teeth and make a wish to be with that particular person. If you have pulled a random letter (not someone you have in mind), –say, S– then ask the Goddess to bring this S to you.
- The second part of the spell can only be performed if you have a particular person in mind. According to a Gypsy myth, the apple represents the heart. If you cut the apple in half horizontally, you will reveal the pentacle–the sacred symbol of the goddess and the human form. The Gypsy lovers would share these two apple halves , symbolically giving each other their hearts.
- Offer half of the stem-plucked apple to the one you desire. If it is accepted, his/her heart will be open to your magic. However, a kiss must occur within thirteen hours after eating the apple. If you initiate the kiss, you have a good shot at winning your beloved’s affections. If the other person initiates the kiss, you have already won his/her heart. If the kiss is mutual, the bond will last.
You will need:
This spell is to bring about a relationship with a soulmate, someone with whom you will feel a divine connection. All of these foods are mentioned in the Bible in association with the Promised Land. The Promised Land is often interpreted as coming home in a love relationship. Eat these foods to attract a holy relationship, one that is filled with God.
Raisins and almonds are said to make someone hear and recognize the call of home. They will help you to be able to answer the question of whether someone is right for you.
Milk and honey are mixed to find happiness and bring fulfillment in love. Milk is also nurturing and represents fertility.
If you want to attract a soulmate, eat raisins and almonds with a glass of warm milk with a teaspoon of honey stirred in. If you want to know if someone specific is your soulmate, before retiring, drink a glass of warm milk with a teaspoon of honey stirred in. Place three raisins and three almonds under your pillow. Your dreams will reveal the answer to your question.
The “Love Sucks, I Know Nothing About It” Spell
You will need:
- Shot of rum
- An egg
- Teaspoon of sugar
- Spritz of Lemon Juice
This spell is for those damaged souls who have been through the mill in love. They have failed, and they have failed miserably. They are not even willing to take another chance on love because they feel crippled underneath the baggage they are already carrying. This spell combines a bit of wisdom and a bit of hope and a heap of renewal energy. This spell may be performed only on the new moon. You can perform this spell on yourself or for that dismal friend of yours with his/her consent before you try to fix him/her up with a blind date.
Heat up the milk, add a shot of rum (or imitation rum flavoring), crack an egg, and stir it in (minus the shell). Add a teaspoon of sugar and a spritz of lemon juice. Take off the stove before it reaches a boil and guzzle it down quickly. Lemon heals, neutralizes, and repels negative energy , situations, and hopelessness. Milk is loving and nurturing, cures depression, and alleviates fear. Rum clears the way and brings insight, eggs are for rebirth, and the sugar will sweeten the new path of love that awaits you.
Invcation to the Angel of Venus
Use this invocation to ask the archangel of Venus, Anael, to bless and bring harmony to a romantic relationship. Light a candle at Anael’s hour (between 9 and 10am) and burn some rose incense. Scatter a few pink rose petals on your altar.
Archangel Anael, angel of the mystic planet Venus, as I light this candle, my consciousness opens to receive your divine influence and the blessing of your wisdom and loveliness. I envision you descending to meet me as I rise in thought and in spirit to reach your exalted realms. I am aware of the exquisite rose light within which you enclose me as in an aura. It is as if we come together to meet in a temple of the rose.
I ask that you hear my prayer and that I may receive the benison of your assistance. Please clear the way so that the love between [your lover’s name] and myself might blossom and flourish. Please help us to draw light from our hearts so that it may be perfectly expressed in body, mind, soul and spirit.
Archangel Anael, you have the romantic affairs of humankind under your divine rulership, I watch this candle flame burn and behold the strength and the power of the bond of love to overcome all resentment and disharmony. I ask that you cleanse our vision of all illusion so that we may see the truth and the beauty in one another and transcend all earthly barriers and limitations.
If this petition is for all good in its conception, may it succeed. I see the archangel Anael pouring out blessings upon us as if from a horn of plenty; and these blessings merge into one brilliant shaft of light, which penetrates the heart of our love so that it may be healed and be whole.
Making a Mojo Bag
A Mojo is a visible symbol of desire. It is the not-too-distant relative of the four-leaf clover, rabbit’s foot, wedding ring, flag, and many other modern magical symbols. Usually constructed in the form of a charm-bag, a mojo is carried on the person or hung in the home, car, or workplace for good luck, protection, harmony, health, attracting love or money, and so on.
Mojos contain many different things–herbs, coins, magnets, stones, bones, beads, feathers, hair, shells– depending on the purpose. Every part of a mojo has significance symbolically: colors, numbers of knots, shape, number and kinds of ingredients. The symbolic meanings have been part of esoteric knowledge for millennia, and are the basis of many systems of Magic, such as the Freudian and Jungian. All the parts work together to affect the unconscious mind and get it moving in order to achieve the desired result– somewhat like waving a red flag in front of a bull, or burning an American flag in front of a US senator. Because, let’s face it, the unconscious, powerful though it is, is not too cooperative in achieving conscious desires.
Making and using a mojo is a way of making our deepest wishes solid and tangible, of working things out on the physical level and then taking them back into ourselves. It’s all done with symbols, because the unconscious understands symbols. You might say that Mojo Magic is the mirror-image of dreaming, in that dreams are messages from the unconscious to the conscious mind, and Mojo Magic is sending messages back.
Mojo Magic is based on the principles of Similarity (things which seem alike are alike) and Contagion (things once in contact continue to interact after separation).
The Law of Similarity is the basis of the system of Magical Correspondences; each area of life is ruled by a particular planet, day of the week, etc., and each of these planets rules a number of substances, plants, animals, etc. For example, the area of sex and love is traditionally ruled by the planet Venus, whose day is Friday, whose color is blue-green, whose metal is copper, and whose herbs are (among many others) rose, orris, and sandalwood.
If you wished to make a love charm, then, you would pick out herbs sacred to the Goddess in her Venusian aspects, with perhaps a magnet (for attraction), or a copper penny, and place them in a small bag of blue-green cloth. Along with these ingredients, you would also put in some object belonging to the one you desired–a lock of hair, a fragment of an old shirt, or the like.
This obeys the Law of Contagion–you are providing an object link, a physical connection with your subject. A photograph is an excellent object link, especially if the subject’s name is written on the back. Each part of the mojo is symbolic, including the number of ingredients and the number of knots used to bind it–use the number which symbolizes your purpose.
It is most important to be clear in your mind what your purpose actually is, and to do only one kind of working at a time. Since the mojo functions on both the magical and psychological levels as a centering device, you don’t want to confuse yourself before you begin. And Magic generally works, so be prepared to get exactly what you ask for, and ask carefully.
When you have constructed the mojo (preferably on the day appropriate to your purpose, on a waxing moon for growth and increase and on a waning moon for decrease and getting rid of things you don’t want in your life), charge it with your personal power by breathing on it and saying something like:
- “I charge this spell
- By three times three
- To do harm to none
- Nor return to me
- As I do will SO MOTE IT BE!”
Upon uttering the last words, project the power of your desire into the mojo. Visualize, as strongly as youcan, your purpose accomplished and yourself in the situation you want. Let this energy go into the mojo; and relax. Carry it with you, or present it to the one it is meant for.
Then keep your eyes open for opportunities to make your wish come true. They will appear–you have only to see them.
